Books that matter deserve to be saved. We repair and restore damaged books of every kind — family bibles, antiquarian and rare books, cookbooks worn with use, children’s favourites, and reference works that must survive another generation of readers.
What we restore
Family bibles and heirloom volumes. These are among the most rewarding books we work on. We repair broken hinges and detached boards, re-sew loose sections, rebuild worn spines in leather or cloth, and clean and mend torn pages — always aiming to preserve as much of the original material and character as possible.
Antiquarian and collectable books. For older and valuable books we take a conservation-first approach: reversible, archival repairs that stabilise the volume without erasing its history. We are happy to discuss the options before any work begins.
Everyday books. A cookbook that has lost its spine, a dictionary with split hinges, a novel with pages coming loose — most damage is repairable, and a sympathetic repair is usually far less costly than replacement.
How we work
Every book is assessed individually. We will tell you honestly what can be done, what it will cost, and — where a book has sentimental rather than monetary value — help you weigh the options. Repairs use acid-free, archival-quality materials, and traditional hand techniques are combined with modern equipment where it gives a better, longer-lasting result.
